Yes, you can get Botox and filler on the same day, and a Botox and filler same day visit is one of the most common appointments we book. The two treatments work in completely different ways, so combining them in one appointment is safe for most people and often gives a more balanced result. The main tradeoffs are a bit more swelling or bruising at once, and that it’s harder to tell which treatment did what if it’s your very first time.

Here’s how we decide when a same-day visit makes sense, how the appointment usually flows in our chair, and when we’d rather split things up.

Why combining Botox and filler works

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin relax the muscles that crease your skin when you move. Filler replaces volume or adds structure where it’s been lost. One quiets movement, the other restores shape, so they don’t compete with each other.

In practice, most faces over about 35 have a little of both going on. Maybe it’s frown lines plus flattened cheeks, or crow’s feet plus thinning lips. Treating only one side of the problem can leave you thinking “it’s better, but something’s still off.” If you’re fuzzy on the difference, our post on Botox vs. filler breaks it down.

Benefits of doing Botox and filler the same day

For the right patient, a combined visit is simply more efficient. One consult, one numbing session, one recovery window, one trip down Sand Lake Rd instead of two.

Botox quiets movement and filler restores shape which is why they pair so well
  • One downtime window. Any swelling or bruising happens at once instead of on two separate weeks.
  • A more complete plan. We can look at the whole face and balance everything in a single session. That’s the idea behind facial balancing.
  • Better timing for events. If a wedding or holiday party is coming up, everything settles on the same schedule.
  • Less time off work. Nobody wants to sit in I-4 traffic twice for two short appointments.

Botox and filler same day: how the appointment goes

Every injector has their own preferences, and the order can depend on which areas you’re treating. Here’s a typical flow in our chair.

  1. Consult and photos. We watch how your face moves, look at it at rest, and agree on priorities and budget.
  2. Numbing. Most fillers we use contain lidocaine, and we may add topical numbing for areas like the lips.
  3. Filler first, in many cases. Placing filler first lets us see the new shape before fine-tuning the muscles around it. In some plans we do Botox first. Neither order is wrong.
  4. Botox or another neurotoxin. A few quick injections, usually the fastest part of the visit.
  5. Aftercare and a two-week check-in. That’s when Botox reaches full effect and filler swelling has mostly settled.

Popular same-day combinations

  • Frown lines and forehead Botox plus cheek filler
  • Crow’s feet Botox plus under-eye or temple filler
  • A lip flip plus lip filler (see our comparison of lip flip vs. lip filler)
  • Botox for a downturned mouth plus chin or jawline filler

When we’d suggest splitting it up

Same-day isn’t always the best call. We’ll recommend separate visits when:

  • It’s your first time with injectables. If you’ve never had either, doing one at a time helps you learn how your face responds and makes it clear what caused any side effect.
  • The plan is large. A lot of filler in several areas plus full-face Botox can mean more swelling than you’d like. Staging it over a few weeks often looks more natural.
  • An event is very close. Filler can swell and bruise for several days. If your big day is under two weeks out, we may do Botox now and save filler for later, or the other way around.
  • You’re prone to heavy bruising. Spreading treatments out gives your skin a break.

If your plan is mostly about volume, our dermal filler page shows the products we use, and we’ll tell you if Botox isn’t needed at all.

Aftercare when you’ve had both

The aftercare overlaps a lot, so it’s not complicated. We send everyone home with written instructions, but the basics look like this:

  • Stay upright for about four hours after Botox, and don’t rub or press on the treated muscles that day.
  • Skip hard workouts, hot yoga, and saunas for about 24 hours. We explain the reasons in when you can work out after Botox or filler.
  • Go easy on alcohol for a day or so to keep swelling and bruising down.
  • Ice gently on filler areas if you’re swollen, using light pressure only.
  • Avoid facials, massages, and dental work for a couple of weeks after filler if you can.

Our full list of injectable aftercare steps covers the rest. And if you’re heading out to a pool party or the beach that weekend, wear a hat and reapply sunscreen. The Florida sun won’t do your swelling any favors.

Quick answers

Should Botox or filler be done first?

It depends on the injector and the areas being treated. Many start with filler to set the shape, then use Botox to fine-tune movement, but either order can work well.

Is it safe to get Botox and filler on the same day?

For most healthy adults, yes. They’re different products doing different jobs. Your injector should review your health history and keep the total plan reasonable.

Will I have more swelling if I do both?

Possibly a little, mostly from the filler. Botox injections cause very minor swelling that fades within an hour or so, while filler swelling can last several days.

How long until I see results from both?

Filler shows right away, with swelling settling over one to two weeks. Botox starts working in 3 to 5 days and reaches full effect around two weeks.
